College Basketball Signing Day: Georgia Officially Adds Caldwell-Pope, Dixon, and Florveus

Mark Fox officially announced that Georgia has signed three players to national letters of intent to attend Georgia and play basketball for the Bulldogs next season. The players are high school seniors Kentavious Caldwell-Pope of Greenville Ga, Tim Dixon of Columbus Ga, and JUCO sophomore John Florveus of Forth Myers Fl.

Coach Fox had this to say about what the Bulldogs were looking for in recruiting this year:

"Two of our needs that we wanted to address with this class were length and scoring ability.  We feel like we've certainly addressed those needs well with two long, athletic players in Tim Dixon and John Florveus, and we also added a great shooter who can score from the perimeter in Kentavious.  We believe they will all fit our system very well.  All three of these young men come from great families and we're looking forward to having them join our program."

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is the most celebrated of the three recruits and is a candidate for this years Mr. Basketball award in the state of Georgia. As a junior at Greenville High School, Caldwell-Pope averaged 29.7 points per game in leading while leading Greenville to the second round of the Class AA state playoffs. Rivals.com rates Caldwell-Pope as the third best shooting guard in the country and the 11th best player overall. Getting him signed early was coup by coach Fox.

"Kentavious has a terrific future ahead of him," Fox said.  "We're really excited about his ability to score from the perimeter.  It's easy to see by his ability and his skills that he's been very well-coached."

Tim Dixon is a solid 6'10" forward/center from Oldsmar Christian School in Oldsmar Florida. He played the three previous seasons at Kendrick High School in Columbus where he averaged 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 6 blocks a game as a junior.

"We're very excited to have signed Tim and we think he has a bright future ahead of him," said Fox.  "He's got great length and athleticism with a good, sound set of offensive skills."

John Florveus is a 7'0" center and comes to Georgia via Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, Florida. As a freshman last season Florveus averaged 4.0 points and 3.5 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks per game. He is still raw but the blocked shot numbers jump off the page.

"John is a long, athletic player who is really quick on his feet and he runs the floor extremely well," Fox said.  "We're excited about adding a player of his size and potential.

With three commits in already Georgia is not stopping it's recruiting efforts. Coach Fox hopes to sign at least one and possibly two more players before the Nov 17th deadline. A possible product that is still unsigned is Devin Langford a 6'5" shooting guard from Lee High School in Huntsville, Ala.
