Andy Strickland has tweeted that it is expected for Nigel Dawes, late of the Calgary Flames, to sign with the Thrashers within the next 48 hours. The diminutive forward, who netted 14 goals in 66 games, will add more competition to make the roster, as if there weren’t enough already. Expect to see him compete for a third line grinder role – his signing replaces Colby Armstrong’s role from last season.
As it stands, the Thrashers have an abundance of third line grinders and energy players with some strong forwards mixed in the top two lines. They won’t be fun to play against, but will they score?
