Tracy Porter Injury: New Orleans CB Fine After Being Carted Off Field Sunday

The Super Bowl hero's status for the Saints game against the Atlanta Falcons is still unknown.

New Orleans CB Tracy Porter appears to be fine after being carted off the field in a stretcher after a scary collision in the first half of the Saints 27-16 victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday:

"He's in the training room now, all the tests came back negative," Saints head coach Sean Payton said in a press conference Monday. "Basically he's dealing with some chest and upper back soreness from the collision. But all the news with his injury is positive, so that's encouraging."

Porter, a 5'11 190 CB, was a second-round pick out of Indiana in 2008, and he's started 33 games in his time in New Orleans, getting 127 tackles, 33 pass deflections and 6 INT's.

He's most famous for jumping in front of a Reggie Wayne slant in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XLIV, returning Colts QB Peyton Manning's pass 74 yards for a TD and clinching the first Super Bowl title in Saints history.

New Orleans has made no ruling on whether he will be able to play against the Atlanta Falcons this Sunday. His absence could be huge, as the Saints will need CB depth against the Atlanta Falcons high-powered WR duo of Roddy White and Julio Jones.
