Toronto Raptors Vs. Atlanta Hawks: Raptors Stranded in Indianapolis, Wednesday's Game In Doubt

Snow way, not again!

For the second time in as many months, the Atlanta Hawks may be forced to postpone a game at Philips Arena. At least this time it's not because of the weather here in the ATL.  The Toronto Raptors are stranded in Indianapolis.

A fierce winter storm has blanked over 2,100 miles of the United States from Texas all the way to the Northeast. The Indianapolis area was not spared the fury of this latest winter blast. Forecasters are expecting 1/4 to an inch of ice, plus a few inches of snow are expected to blanket the region on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Ice is kind of a big problem for planes.  When it accumulates on the wings, It reduces the plane's lift force ability, which is kind of a big deal if the goal is to get your aircraft off of the ground.

The Raptors were scheduled to fly to Atlanta after their 104-93 loss to the Indiana Pacers on Monday night.  That fight was canceled as the snow and ice storm began.  They tried again for five hours to leave on Tuesday, but were unable to do so.  They will try again on Wednesday.

According to former Vice President Al Gore (aka the inventor of Internet* and the inspiration for the novel "Love Story*"), "Snowacolypse 2011 Part 4" is a direct cause of global warming.  (We'll ignore that it's below freezing in Indiana right now).  All hail ManBearPig AlGore!

The Hawks were forced to cancel their Jan. 11 contest against the Milwaukee Bucks here due to the original Snowacolypse 2011.  That storm dumped over six inches of snow over parts of the metropolitan area and crippled the region for about a week.  Ironically, Atlanta escaped north to Toronto to take on the Raptors the next day.

The game against Milwaukee, which was the first basketball game cancelled here in at least 15 years, has been rescheduled for March 15.
