ATP Atlanta Tennis Championships: Mardy Fish Repeats, Downing John Isner

Just like he did in 2010, Mardy Fish topped John Isner in the Atlanta Tennis Championships' last match, completing the first all-American ATP final of the year with a 3-6, 7-6(8-6), 6-2 victory that included two match point saves by the champ. Last year, Fish took a 4–6, 6–4, 7–6(7–4) win.

Despite having lost his first five career finals matches against fellow Americans, Fish is now on a two-match winning streak. He may consider playing only Isner from now on. This is his sixth career tournament win and his fifth in the United States.

Fish is the first repeat winner since Andy Roddick accomplished the task in 2004 -- considering Pete Sampras is the only other player to pull off consecutive Atlanta wins, that's quite an achievement. Former Georgia Bulldogs great Isner pulled off a less-enviable but still impressive accomplishment, becoming the first to lose two straight finals. Only Jim Courier, John McEnroe, Dmitry Tursunov and Gustavo Kuerten -- along with Roddick, Sampras and Fish -- have reached consecutive finals in Atlanta.
