Falcons 'Emphatic' About Re-Signing Justin Blalock After Harvey Dahl Exit

With the loss of Harvey Dahl to the St. Louis Rams, who've become some sort of higher plane to which Atlanta Falcons free agents must ascend, you've assumed the Birds will do everything they can to hang on to LG Justin Blalock. Few offensive lines can have the kind of consistent production Atlanta's has had while losing 40 percent of their manpower.

Well, you were right! Coach Mike Smith himself confirms the team "wants to try to get [him] back." Knox Bardeen describes him as "emphatic," which means a nearby DeAngelo Hall may have backed down with his hands shielding his face, but I cannot confirm that part.

That might be a little bit of a relief for any fans who worried about offensive line continuity, but it shouldn't be that big of a surprise. We've been preparing for for almost a year now to see the team lose one lineman, but outside of a few reports I don't think anybody expected to lose two.
