As the afternoon players make their way through Atlanta Athletic Club, latecomers Trevor Immelman and Shaun Micheel have made their mark on the top 10. Each is 3-under so far, Immelman through seven holes and Micheel through 11, putting them four off of PGA Championship pace-setter Steve Stricker.
Rory McIlroy knocked down par on hole No. 9 on a putt that swirled around the cup before settling in. His back-to-back birdies shortly following a wrist injury providing the highlight of the young tournament.
Stewart Cink is 1-under at the end of his round, good for a 13th-place tie, while Chris Kirk has stumbled to 1-over after a double bogey on hole No. 3. Phil Mickelson likewise finished his day 1-over, as did Ross Fisher, who started out among the event's leaders.
