Martavis Bryant will not be eligible for the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl.

Clemson Tigers wide receiver Martavis Bryant will not participate in the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl for failure to meet academic standards, according to SI.com. Coach Dabo Swinney made the announcement on Tuesday. No. 14 Clemson (10-2) will take on No. 9 LSU (10-2) in the Georgia Dome on Dec. 31.

Bryant is a sophomore from Calhoun Falls, S.C. In his second season with the team, the wideout had 10 receptions for 305 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 10 kickoffs for 210 yards. Bryant served as a backup to star receiver DeAndre Hopkins.

Bryant finished the season with the fifth-most receiving yards for Clemson. He generated several big plays, averaging 30.5 yards per catch. His most productive game came on Oct. 25 against Wake Forest, when Bryant caught three passes for 82 yards.

The loss of Bryant is significant for the Tigers. Clemson passed for more yards than any other team in the ACC this season.
