The No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs and No. 6 South Carolina Gamecocks are in a huge SEC East battle to claim an early stake for the divisional crown. With the game being played in Columbia, S.C., the Gamecocks opened as a slim two-point favorite over the visiting Bulldogs.
The drop in the line toward Georgia is surprising, since Georgia lost star wide receiver Michael Bennett to a season-ending ACL injury this week. Another item that is surprising is that the over/under is set at a bold 110 points. Georgia is a scoring machine this year and is averaging 48.2 points per game, while South Carolina is putting up 36.6 points per game.
Oddsmakers are predicting this to be a shootout, and that could be case since Georgia needed every bit of their 51 points to defeat Tennessee last week. South Carolina does have a much better defense, and is only giving up 11.2 points per game, but do not expect that to hold up with Georgia's high-powered offense.
The line being is as close as expected for these two teams, which are both ranked in the top 10 and undefeated.
