Falcons vs. Redskins 2012: Matt Ryan-Julio Jones connection is good, not great

SB Nation Falcons blog The Falcoholic advocates for a better effort from both Ryan and Jones to increase the Falcons' effectiveness.

The sign of a 5-0 fan base? That wins are accompanied with sharp criticism for not closing out an inferior opponent entirely. That's the gist of The Falcoholic - sure, they're psyched about the franchise first 5-0 start ever - where the focus wasn't on Atlanta's comeback win against Washington, but the hiccups between quarterback Matt Ryan and star wideout Julio Jones.

There's blame on both sides, according to SB Nation's Falcons blog. First, Ryan:

It wasn't just the interception and the fumble--and the interception was as weak an effort as I've seen from him all year--but the way he just straight up overthrew his receivers a few times. Ryan's mere mortal games resemble a very good game for most NFL quarterbacks, but he should not have had to throw so many passes and scuffled a bit. He's still awesome, but I wish his timing with Julio Jones was a little better.

And second, Jones, who finished with 97 yards and a TD, but could've almost doubled that figure:

Julio Jones had a nice day, but he could have had a dominant one. If he can get on the same page as Ryan all the time and avoid those drops that have plagued him this season, he would destroy everyone.

It might bear mentioning that the Falcons themselves are admitting that despite a 5-0 start, they're not even playing their best football.
