Head coach Brian Gregory was thrilled about the McCamish Pavilion, which opened on Friday with a sellout crowd in the building, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"I love this place," said Gregory, who grabbed a microphone at game’s end to thank fans, particularly the students, for their support. "I’m excited about what we’re going to build."
Center Daniel Miller led Georgia Tech to the win with a great all-around game. The youngster recorded a double-double with 10 points, 10 rebounds and six assists. Kammeon Hosley also played a very solid game inside. The 6'8" junior scored 18 points to go with seven rebounds and two assists.
Marcus Georges-Hunt was also a factor in the outcome, scoring 14 points and snatching down seven rebounds.
Josh Davis did all he could to propel the Green Wave to victory, but it wasn't to be. Tulane's star forward was unstoppable, scoring 27 points to lead all scorers. Guard Ricky Tarrant was also effective offensively, scoring 18 points on 6-of-13 shooting.
