Kirby Lee-US PRESSWIRE

The Atlanta Hawks are off to a middling start in the 2012-13 season.

The Atlanta Hawks are 2-2 after a few weeks of the 2012 NBA season, trailing the Miami Heat by two games in the Southeast Division.

Atlanta had a chance to pull even with the Heat on Friday, but fell short against them, losing 95-89 at Philips Arena.

Around the league, there are few surprises bigger than the 4-0 New York Knicks. Many felt Mike Woodson's team would be competitive and make the playoffs, but few thought it would dominate against solid teams.

In Los Angeles, the Lakers have been nothing short of awful, getting Mike Brown fired en route to a 2-4 start. With Steve Nash on the shelf, L.A. will need to pick it up in hopes of getting towards the top of the Western Conference.

The Boston Celtics are also off to a very uneven start at 2-3. Doc Rivers' team looks old, barely winning against the Washington Wizards twice while losing to the Philadelphia 76ers, Miami Heat and Milwaukee Bucks.
