The Atlanta Hawks fall to 2-3 on the season after an 89-76 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers to open a four-game west coast road trip. Atlanta was neck and neck with Los Angeles until the final minutes of the third quarter when the Clippers took control of the game. Los Angeles second unit sparked a 7-0 run late in the third and helped put the Clippers up 65-60 heading to the fourth.
The trend continued in the fourth as Atlanta began to struggle with turnovers and the Clippers lead grew to as many as 20 points.
Josh Smith ended up leading the Hawks with 13 points, six rebounds and four assists. Smith however was 6-14 from the field, 1-3 from three point range and 0-4 from the free throw line. Josh's free throw struggles are at an all-time high as he is now 2-14 on the season. Al Horford and Lou Williams each chipped in 11 points.
Blake Griffin led the Clippers with 16 points, six rebounds and four assists. Chris Paul added 15 points and eight assists of his own. Caron Butler added 13 points. Los Angeles' second unit sparked the big second half run as Eric Bledsoe finished with 12 points, Jamal Crawford netted 11 and Matt Barnes chipped in 10.
Atlanta's road trip continues on Monday when they travel up the coast to Portland to take on the Trail Blazers.
