Georgia State Vs. BYU Final: Cougars win 80-62

The Panthers were never really in the game against a team expected to contend for an NCAA championship berth.

BYU defeated Georgia State 80-62 in the opening round of the Coaches vs. Classic tournament on Tuesday.

Brandon Davies dominated, scoring 29 points on 10-14 shooting while also chipping in 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Tyler Haws was very efficient for the Cougars, scoring 22 points on 8-12 shooting with 7 rebounds and 5 assists.

Georgia State's leading scorer was Manny Atkins, who had 21 points and 8 rebounds.

The Panthers struggled to create good offensive looks all night, shooting only 35.4% from the floor while going only 3-22 from beyond the arc.

BYU got out to an quick start, blowing Georgia State off the court with a 44-26 first half. From there, the Cougars took the foot off the gas, but the Panthers were never able to get back into the game.

With the win, BYU moves onto the championship round, which will be held next weekend in the Barclays Center.
