Georgia Southern Vs. Georgia: Jarvis Jones has quiet game against Georgia Southern

Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

Georgia's best defender didn't do too much against the Georgia Southern Eagles

One triple-option team down, one more to come - and Georgia's 45-14 win over Georgia Southern came on a week when the Bulldogs survived a quiet week from its best defender.

Jarvis Jones registered only six tackles, but had one tackle for loss and forced a fumble in the win, and said that he was taken out of the box score because of his assignment to cover the quarterback - an assignment that he'll draw again next week against Georgia Tech as he tries to break the single-season Georgia sack record.

And while fellow teammate John Jenkins said he was "dreading" another week of shuffling between the quarterback, fullback and halfback, Jones told the Macon Telegraph that he wasn't that worried about it.

"When I look at it, I don't look at it as dreading it. I look at it as being disciplined. For us to be a great defense we gotta be disciplined and we gotta have challenged. We're challenged another week with the triple-option and we're challenged to be disciplined."

With the Bulldogs now looking to keep their national title hopes alive, every game is that much more important, and Georgia will want two big weeks from Jones in their rivalry game against the Yellow Jackets and the SEC title game - which might be a play-in to the BCS title game.
