Cardinals vs. Falcons: Matt Ryan plays leader despite five interceptions

Matt Ryan keeps cool despite his five interceptions in the Falcons' 23-19 victory over the Cardinals.

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan's five interceptions ended up not costing the Falcons a chance at victory against the Arizona Cardinals as Atlanta snuck away with a 23-19 victory, but Ryan owned up to his mistakes in the postgame press conference, noting the importance of weathering a tough performance like the one he had on Sunday.

"Part of playing this position in this league is knowing that there will be times when you make mistakes and fall flat on your face," Ryan told reporters at the press conference. "You just have to get up and keep playing and keep throwing."

Ryan did end up throwing for more than 300 yards, but was held without a touchdown pass on the afternoon. Despite his lackluster performance, Ryan remained aware of the emotions he was showing, as he recognized his importance as a leader and indicator of how to act for his teammates.

"I think that there are a lot of hats you wear as quarterback," Ryan said. "Part of it is player, and part of it is keeping everybody on the same page and being relaxed."
