Nothing like some Good, Old Fashioned Hate on Saturday to get the juices flowing.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have had a terrific year, already clinching a spot in the ACC Championship Game. Now, they can give their fans something even more to smile about.
One of the best rivalries is renewed on Saturday when Georgia Tech takes on the Georgia Bulldogs in what is known as Good, Old Fashioned Hate.
Of course, this year has a lot riding on this contest with Georgia ranked No. 3 in the BCS Standings, just behind the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Alabama Crimson Tide. A loss would certainly knock the Bulldogs out of the championship chase. Per dogbytesonline.com:
"I was actually talking about it after I found out that (then-No. 1) Kansas State and (then-No. 2) Oregon lost," running back David Sims said. "‘How good would it feel to upset Georgia’s national championship hopes and go to the ACC championship a week later?’
"It would be awesome. We’ve been blessed with this opportunity so hopefully we can make the most of it."
It will obviously be a tough test for the Yellow Jackets. Without question, they'll have to play their best game of the year to pull off what most experts would call a shocking upset. From dogbytesonline.com:
"We’ve played against some great defenses this year but Georgia’s is going to by far be our biggest challenge of the season," said running back Zach Laskey, who grew up in Atlanta. "The toughest part is their speed. The entire defense just flies around the ball and plays with a lot of energy."
A Georgia Tech win would be payback for 2009, when its 10-1 team fell to the unranked Bulldogs.
