Georgia Tech vs. Georgia Final Score: Bulldogs roll to 42-10 win over Yellow Jackets

Georgia finishes its regular season schedule at 11-1 after a 42-10 win over in-state rival Georgia Tech. The Bulldogs head to Atlanta next week for the SEC Championship Game.

Georgia wrapped up its regular season schedule with a 42-10 win over in-state rival Georgia Tech. With the win, the Bulldogs move one step closer to a spot in the BCS title game.

Georgia jumped out of the gate quickly against the Yellow Jackets. Malcolm Mitchell began the game with a long kickoff return into Yellow Jackets territory and the Bulldogs punched it in four plays later with a Todd Gurley run. It looked like Georgia Tech was going to answer back with a long drive until Bacarri Rambo stripped Robert Godhigh and returned the fumble to midfield.

It took eight plays for Georgia to punch it in again as Gurley again found the endzone to make the score 14-0 and the rout was on. Aaron Murray went to work in the second quarter driving the football down the field. Keith Marshall made the score 21-3 with a 15-yard run early in the second and Murray put the nail in the coffin right before the half with an 11-yard touchdown pass to Rhett McGowen to make the score 28-3 at the half.

The second half was more of the same for the Bulldogs. Murray stretched the lead to 35-3 with a touchdown pass to tight end Jay Rome. Marshall later punched in his second score to put Georgia up 42-3. Georgia Tech finally got into the endzone late when David Sims punched it in from nine yards out to round out the scoring.

The stats are somewhat deceiving considering the outcome. Georgia Tech out gained the Bulldogs 426-380 and had nearly a 21 minute advantage in time of possession. They however were unable to finish drives and two big turnovers robbed them of any chance to make this much of a game.

Murray finished 14-17 for 215 yards and two touchdowns. Gurley carried the ball 12 times for 97 yards and two scores. Marshall added 66 yards on the ground and two scores of his own. Malcolm Mitchell caught three passes for 88 yards.

Tevin Washington completed 6-9 passes for 55 yards while Vad Lee was 4-12 for 65 yards and an interception. David Sims led the way on the ground for the Yellow Jackets with 71 yards and a score. Robert Godhigh caught a team-high five passes for 66 yards.

Up next for the Yellow Jackets is a matchup with Florida State in the ACC Championship game.
