The leading return man for New Orleans missed practice Wednesday while recovering from hand surgery.
Four New Orleans Saints players missed practice with injuries on Wednesday. Backup running back and leading return man Darren Sproles sat out as he continued to recover from surgery on his broken hand. Sproles injured his hand against the Denver Broncos in Week 8 and sat out Monday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Starting right tackle Zack Streif (groin), backup wide receiver Courtney Roby (shoulder), and backup defensive end Junior Galette (ankle) also sat out. New Orleans interim head coach Joe Vitt didn't elaborate on any of the injuries, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune. No word has been given yet as to whether these players will be available for Sunday's game against the undefeated Atlanta Falcons.
The Saints did receive good news Wednesday when linebacker Daniel Hawthorne (hamstring) was able to participate completely. New Orleans enters Sunday's game with a record of 3-5. The Saints currently trail the Falcons by five games. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM in the Superdome.
