Bacarri Rambo patterns game after Ed Reed

Scott Cunningham

Georgia safety Bacarri Rambo said he watches Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens and tries to emulate his playing style as a secondary player capable of delivering big hits.

Bacarri Rambo is one of the most feared defensive players in college football, so it only makes sense that the Georgia Bulldogs' safety looks to one of the most feared defensive players in the NFL for inspiration.

The senior and all-American said he tries to model his playing style after Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens. Like Reed, the eight-time Pro Bowler and All-Pro who won the 2004 NFL Defensive Player of the Year award, Rambo is known for his ability to pick off passes as well as his crushing tackles.

"I watch his highlight film a lot to see how he does things," Rambo said. "I feel like he’s more of a ball hawk and that’s what I try to suit myself as. If it comes down to making a big hit, he’s going to make the big hit. I try to do that, too, but now I’d rather just catch interceptions."

Reed and Rambo are both noted for intercepting the ball from the safety spot. The Bulldogs' safety picked off eight passes as a junior and is only two away from tying the record for most ever by a Georgia player. Reed has led the league three times in interceptions in his 11 years out of the University of Miami. Rambo is also a hard hitter, having forced four fumbles in his Georgia career.
