Georgia Tech Vs. North Carolina: Little Robert Godhigh making big blocks

Bob Donnan-US PRESSWIRE

The former walk-on has thrived in his role as an A-back for Georgia Tech, helping to propel the powerful Yellow Jackets ground game.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets have received terrific contributions in their running game from Robert Godhigh as he's settled into the position of A-back this season.

At 5'7 and 188 pounds, Godhigh isn't the typical bruising blocker, but his enthusiasm and stocky body allow him to do big things. Ken Sugiura of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Godhigh leads the Rambling Wreck's A-back crew in knockdown blocks this season, helping Georgia Tech amass a whopping 318.2 yards per game on the ground. Godhigh has also put up impressive running numbers of his own, with 275 yards on 32 carries and two rushing touchdowns.

Sugiura writes that Godhigh learned his craft from A-backs coach Lamar Owens and former Georgia Tech star Roddy Jones. After a prolific high school career, Godhigh was passed over by most major programs because of his size. He walked on for the Yellow Jackets, and Georgia Tech has been reaping the benefits this season.

Godhigh will try to open up some lanes for teammates this Saturday against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
