The Illinois St. Redbirds offensive coordinator will bring his prolific approach to Atlanta in an attempt to bolster the scoring for the Panthers.
Georgia St. Panthers head coach Trent Miles tabbed Luke Huard this week to join the staff as the Panthers overhaul their coaching roster.
Doug Roberson of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported the hiring on Thursday, adding that Huard's role on the Panthers' staff is not clearly defined yet.
Miles, the former coach at FCS Indiana St., had ample opportunity to observe Huard's coaching style and results while Huard was the offensive coordinator for the FCS Illinois St. Redbirds, as the two teams are in the Missouri Valley Conference. Huard's offense put up a whopping 396.8 yards per game in 2012, averaging 30.2 points as well. Those are both increases from the Redbirds' 2011 output, where Illinois St. posted averages of 27.9 points and 383 yards per game.
Huard is joining an offensive staff including offensive line coach Harold Etheridge (like Miles, an Indiana St. transplant) and former Boston College Eagles head coach Jeff Jagodzinski, the new Panthers offensive coordinator.
