The Savannah State Tigers are the No. 1 seed and have received a bye in the first round of the 2012 MEAC tournament as play begins on Tuesday.
The 2012 MEAC basketball tournament will take place on March 5-10 at the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Savannah State comes into the tournament as the No. 1 overall seed in their first year as members of the MEAC after previously playing as an independent. With a 14-2 conference record and 21-10 overall record, the Tigers are poised to represent the conference in the NCAA tournament.
The top three seeds in the conference standings; Savannah State, Norfolk State and Delaware State, have all received byes in the first-round of the conference tournament and will play their first games on Wednesday.
