Alabama takes the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament crown with a 10-1 win over Florida in the championship game.

2012 SEC Softball Tournament: Alabama Defeats Florida 10-1 To Claim Championship

The Alabama Crimson Tide capped off a great weekend at the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament with a 10-1 run-rule victory over the Florida Gators to take the tourney championship. This was the second time that Alabama has captured both the regular season title and the conference tournament in the same season.

The Crimson Tide went to work early scoring two first inning runs. Florida answered back with a single run of their own in the top of the second to cut the lead to 2-1. Alabama went back to work in the third scoring six times and extending the lead to 8-1 with the big blow coming off the bat of Kendall Dawson with a two run homer. They would tack on two more in the fourth inning to make the score 10-1.

Sophomore Jackie Traina was named as the tournament's MVP. Alabama improves to 50-7 on the year.

2012 SEC Softball Tournament Championship Game Time, TV Schedule And More

The Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida Gators will meet in the championship game of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament on Saturday. The game was originally scheduled to be played at 8 p.m. ET on Saturday night but the conference has moved the game to a 1 p.m. start because of the possibility of inclement weather.

Alabama defeated Mississippi State 5-2 and then blanked Georgia 1-0 in the semifinals. Florida opened the tournament with a 1-0 win over LSU and then needed extra innings to defeat Tennessee 2-1.

2012 SEC Softball Tournament: Alabama Downs UGA 1-0 To Advance To Finals

Georgia's run in the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament came to an end with a 1-0 loss to top-seeded Alabama. The Crimson Tide advances to the championship game on Saturday where they will take on the Florida Gators.

Despite finishing with six hits and three walks, the Bulldogs couldn't scratch across a run against Alabama starter Jackie Traina. Paige Wilson went 3 for 3 for Georgia but Courtney Conley's third inning home run proved to be the difference in the game.

Traina earns her 33rd win of the season going seven innings while allowing six hits and striking out five. Georgia's Erin Arevalo takes the loss pitching six innings while allowing three hits and just one run. Arevalo struck out three and walked one. Her record falls to 23-7 on the season.

SEC Baseball Tournament 2012: Florida Outlasts Tennessee 2-1 In Extra Innings

The Florida Gators captured a 2-1 win over the Tennessee Volunteers in eight innings to advance to the finals of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament.

Freshman Bailey Castro provided the winning margin with her sixth home run of the season in the top of the eighth inning. Lauren Haeger pitched a scoreless bottom half securing the win for the Gators.

Tennessee took a 1-0 lead in the first inning thanks to a Florida error. The Gators tied things up in the third inning on an RBI single by Cheyenne Coyle. The score would remain tied until Castro's blast in the eighth broke the tie. Florida freshman Sami Fagan tied an SEC Tournament record by going 4 for 4 at the plate.

Florida's Hannah Rogers earns her 27th win of the season pitching seven innings while allowing four hits and one unearned run. Haeger earned her second save of the season with a perfect inning in the eighth. Tennessee's Ivy Renfroe takes the loss after pitching 7.1 innings and allowing six hits and two runs.

2012 SEC Softball Tournament Semifinals Bracket, Times, TV Info And More

The semifinal pairings of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament are set after Thursday's action. Florida and Tennessee will square off at 3 p.m. ET on Friday in the first semifinal while Georgia will take on host and top-seeded Alabama in the second game at 5:30 p.m. ET. Both games can be seen on ESPNU.

Florida defeated LSU on Thursday by a score of 1-0 in the opening game of the tournament. Tennessee held on for a 2-1 win over Auburn. Georgia scored six runs early and held on for a 6-4 win over Kentucky to reach the semifinals while Alabama took a 5-2 win over Mississippi State in the final game from Thursday.

SEC Softball Tournament 2012: Alabama Knocks Off Mississippi State 5-2

Top seeded Alabama advances to the semifinals of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament with a 5-2 win over eight seeded Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide will play again on Friday against Georgia at 5:30 p.m. ET.

Jennifer Fenton connected for three hits while Cassie Reilly-Boccia added two for the Tide. Jackie Traina picked up her 32nd win of the season after allowing five hits and two runs over seven innings of work. Kylie Vrie takes the loss after giving up four hits and three runs (two earned) in just an inning of work.

Alabama scored three runs in the third and added two more in the fifth. Mississippi State's only two runs of the game came in the sixth inning off the bat of Sam Lenahan and Jessica Cooley.

SEC Softball Tournament 2012: UGA Advances With 6-4 Win Over Kentucky

Georgia advances to the semifinals of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament with a 6-4 win over the Kentucky Wildcats. The Bulldogs will take on top seeded Alabama on Friday.

The Lady Dogs improved to 41-14 on the season with the win and Erin Arevalo improved to 23-6 after allowing one run and four hits in 5.2 innings of work. Chanda Bell was tagged with the loss for Kentucky after surrendering six runs on four hits in just two innings of work.

Kristyn Sandberg went 1 for 2 at the plate with a homer and three RBIs for Georgia. Paige Wilson and Gracie Grouder finished with two hits each.

Georgia did all of its scoring in the game's first two innings. The Lady Dogs jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning and then extended that to 6-0 with four more in the second with the big blow being Sandberg's homer. After getting a solo homer from Brittany Cervantes in the fourth, Kentucky scored three more times in the seventh before UGA finally stopped the rally.

2012 SEC Softball Tournament: Tennessee Defeats Auburn 2-1

Tennessee got a sixth inning home run from Holly Baker as the Volunteers held on for a 2-1 win over Auburn in the first round of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament.

Tennessee to a 1-0 lead in the third on an infield single from second baseman Lauren Gibson. The Volunteers extended the lead to 2-0 in the sixth on Baker's first home run of the season and only the second of her career. Auburn got in the scoring column in the seventh when Hilary Mavromat homered to center to cut the lead to 2-1.

Tennessee's Ellen Renfroe improves to 27-3 on the season while allowing three hits and one run over seven innings of work. Jenee Loree takes the loss for Auburn after allowing four hits and two runs in five innings on the mound.

The Vols advance to semifinals on Friday where they will take on the Florida Gators at 3 p.m.

2012 SEC Softball Tournament: Florida Opens With 1-0 Win Over LSU

Lauren Haeger pitched a complete game two hit shutout as the Florida Gators won their opening round matchup of the 2012 SEC Softball Tournament by a score of 1-0. The Gators are the third seed in the tournament and survived a tight contest with the No. 6 seed LSU.

Haeger struck out eight and pitched around five walks on the afternoon. LSU's Brittany Mack deserved a better fate as she allowed two hits and one run over five innings. Florida scraped across a run in the bottom half of the fifth on a Sami Fagan single that scored Brianna Littl.

Florida advances to the semifinals where they will play the winner of today's matchup between Auburn and Tennessee later this afternoon. The semifinals begin on Friday at 3 p.m. ET on ESPNU.
