Georgia Southern fell in a close game to Coastal Carolina 2-1 and has been eliminated from the 2012 Women's College World Series. The game was a pitching duel and Georgia Southern did get on the board first in the top of the fourth inning when Andrea Tarashuk hit a sacrifice fly to left field to score Marie Fogle.
Coastal Carolina responded in the bottom of the fourth inning when Jazmin Daigle singled off of Sarah Purvis and knocked in Courtney Howell to tie the game at one run apiece. Georgia Southern had a chance to regain the lead in the fifth inning but they left runners on base.
In the bottom of the fifth inning Georgia Southern brought in Allie Miles to relive Purvis, but the first batter she faced she walked and then she allowed a RBI double to Sarah Maples and proved to be the game winner. Georgia Southern was completely shutdown over the final two innings as Ashley Bagwell -- who pitched a complete game -- finished strong by not allowing any hits over the final two innings.
