Buck Farmer pitched seven shutout innings and tallied eight strikeouts as Georgia Tech blanked Charlotte 9-0 on Saturday night in the opener of a three-game series at Russ Chandler Stadium.
Farmer is now 7-3 on the season, as he allowed 8 hits in 7 innings on Saturday. Clay Dalton and Daniel Palka pitched the eight and the ninth innings to secure the combined shutout for the pitching staff. One person that was pleased, Georgia Tech head coach Danny Hall:
"I thought Buck did a really good job of pitching out of trouble. They got some hits off him, but he was able to get out of trouble when he was in it. Dalton and Palka threw the ball well behind him." -- GT head coach Danny Hall
All nine Yellow Jacket batters collected at least one hit in the game, and Georgia Tech drew 11 walks as Charlotte couldn't keep the Rambling Wreck off the bases.
The two-day series concludes Sunday with a doubleheader, beginning at 2 p.m Eastern.
