Sparks Vs. Dream Final Score: Angel McCoughtry's 31 Lead Atlanta Over L.A. 92-59

Sometimes in sports things just aren't supposed to make sense. Case in point was an Atlanta Dream team that came into Friday's matchup with the Los Angeles Sparks struggling. The Sparks on the other hand were off to one of the best starts in franchise history before suffering a 92-59 beatdown by the Dream at Philips Arena.

Atlanta got off to a fast start beginning the game with an 8-0 run and turning that into a 28-12 first quarter advantage. The Dream put the screws down in the third outscoring the Sparks 32-19 to take a commanding lead.

Angel McCoughtry didn't start for unspecified reasons but made quick work of the Sparks with a game-high 31 points in 25 minutes of action. Lindsey Harding added 18 points while Sancho Lyttle finished with 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists. Atlanta made 49 percent of their field goal attempts and wracked up 24 assists which is a far cry from some of their previous efforts this season.

Nneka Ogwumike led the Sparks with 13 points. Candice Parker finished with nine and former Atlanta Dream and Georgia Lady Dog Coco Miller added six.

The game was a tough return for former Dream assistant coach Carol Sparks as she made her first trip to Philips Arena as head coach of the Sparks. Atlanta improves to 4-5 on the season and have won six straight against Los Angeles dating back to the 2009 season.
