Christian Bethancourt may not be having the most successful season of a young minor league catcher, but he was still named to the Futures game on Thursday and one baseball expert is expecting him to do something awesome:
This, from ESPN's Keith Law:
He has raw power, but I'm including him here because of his defense. He's one of the best-throwing catchers in organized baseball, and I'd love to see him get a chance to try to throw out Billy Hamilton at second.
And the confidence in Bethancourt comes despite the youngster struggling this season with a .255 batting average and no homers in 41 games for Double-A Mississippi. But he's the only prospect from the Braves' organization who was selected to this group, so it says something about how people view him.
