Wimbledon 2012 Update: John Isner Loses In Opening Round To Alejandro Falla

John Isner, in only Isner fashion, went the full distance in his match with Alejandro Fallas at Wimbledon on Monday afternoon, but fell short to the veteran from Columbia. Falla won the match 6-4, 6-7, 3-6, 7-6, 7-5.

For a while Isner was an 84 percent winner on his first serve, while Falla was 79 percent. And Isner had 31 aces to Falla's four. Isner is known for long, drawn out, physical matches. It's what made him famous two years ago. But in this match, he seemed to be the more dominant and more physically imposing one.

So it's a bit confusing how Isner could lose the match just in those last few points, when he clearly played decent tennis. With the loss, Isner is knocked out of the opening round of the tournament.
