There will be no Triple Crown winner this year as I'll Have Another has been scratched from the race due to a tendon injury that happened during Friday morning's training session. The latest news is that I'll Have Another has officially retired as a race horse.
Matt Gardner of SB Nation's horsing blog And Down the Stretch They Come talks about I'll Have Another and the horses injury and retirement, as well as what Saturday's race without I'll Have Another now means.
The tendon injury is typically not life threatening for a horse, but if they were to injury the tendon again it then would be very serious.
With I'll Have Another out of the 2012 Belmont Stakes is means there will be another year where horse racing does not have a Triple Crown winner.
