It was a busy day of action on Tuesday at the 2012 Championships at Wimbledon. Serena Williams picked up a big win to advance to the ladies' semifinals, while the two remaining American men's players were both sent packing.
Williams bumped off defending ladies' champ Petra Kvitova to advance, thanks to a dominant win in straight sets of 6-3, 7-5. In the semifinals later this week, she will meet up with the winner of the match between No. 2 Victoria Azarenka and Tamira Paszek, with an eye towards making it to the championship match.
In men's action, Mardy Fish was eliminated by Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in four sets, 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, 6-4. Brian Baker will also be heading home after losing out to Philipp Kohlschreiber in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6, 6-3.
Tsonga and Kohlschreiber will be joining Andy Murray, Florian Mayer and David Ferrer in the quarterfinals, as all four men advanced on Tuesday.
