Stay connected for news and updates

Not long after being named to the All-Star team in his final season, Chipper Jones turned his attention to lobbying for teammate Michael Bourn.

As of Tuesday, Bourn was last among the five players eligible for the All-Star Final Vote. Fans have until 4 p.m. Thursday to vote here for the final roster spot. Jones wants fans to send another Braves player to Kansas City.

From the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

"The one reason I'm really glad that it happened today is that now we can all vote for Mike Bourn and get him there," Jones said. "Mike Bourn has been our most valuable player this year. He's jumpstarted our offense time and time again. When he came over to shake my hand to congratulate me I told him he was coming with, so we've got to get him there."

Bourn made the 2010 All-Star Game as a member of the Astros. This season, he's hitting .305 with seven homers and 23 stolen bases in the leadoff spot for Atlanta.
