2012 Olympics Results: Allison Schmitt, United States Team Wins Gold In 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay

Allison Schmitt is enjoying herself at the 2012 Olympic Games. On Tuesday, Schmitt took home the gold medal in the women's 200m freestyle. On Wednesday, she led the United States to the gold medal in the 4x200m women's freestyle relay.

As a team, the Americans finished with a time of 7:42.92, nearly a second and a half better than the silver medalists from Australia. The Australians finished with a time of 7:44.41.

While it's a team achievement, Schmitt, who was the final American racer to swim, finished with a team best time of 1:54.09. Missy Franklin had the second best time for the US team, with a time of 1:55.96. Dana Vollmer finished with a time of 1:56.02, while Shannon Vreeland posted a time of 1:56.85.

France finished a distant third, with a time of 7:47.49, over four and a half seconds off the pace.

The gold medal is Schmitt's second, and she also has a silver and bronze medal as well.
