After a brief rehab stint at Triple-A Gwinnett, Tommy Hanson has been activated from the Braves disabled list, which sends Cory Gearrin back to the Gwinnett in the switch.
However, Gearrin is expected to return to the big league roster when it expands on Sept. 1. It was speculated that the Braves might go with a six-man rotation once Hanson was called up, but they will likely wait until the month is over to bring Gearrin back.
Hanson will take the mound for the Braves on Friday against the Dodgers, looking to help lead Atlanta to its fourth consecutive victory. In his minor league outing, allowed two hits and 2 walks with three strikeouts in four scoreless innings. He's 12-5 with a 4.29 ERA for Atlanta this season.
Braves right hander Tommy Hanson looks like he will be headed back to the Braves rotation soon after pitching four innings in a rehab start at Triple-A Gwinnett.

No word on what the Braves might do once Hanson is ready to come back off the disabled list. There is a chance that Atlanta could go with a six-man starting rotation in the early going but Kris Medlencould be the odd man out again if they decide to stick with five.
By pitching Sunday, Hanson likely won't be activated before Friday although he is eligible to come off the disabled list on Wednesday.
