Braves vs. Mets: Jon Niese Dominates, Ben Sheets Struggles In 6-5 Loss

Stay connected for news and updates

Not much went right for the Braves on Sunday night. A team that always seems to struggle on Sunday Night Baseball, Atlanta scored just one run against Mets starter Jon Niese and a late comeback attempt fell short. The Mets, on the other hand, scored early and often against Ben Sheets to win by a score of 6-5.

New York led 6-1 heading into the ninth inning. After loading the bases with two outs, Juan Francisco and Michael Bourn drew walks. Martin Prado then hit a two-run double to cut the deficit to 6-5. Jason Heyward came to the plate with the tying and go-ahead run in scoring position, but he struck out to end the threat.

It was a good effort from Atlanta, but it was too little too late. They end the six-day road trip with a record of 4-2.
