Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez and third baseman Chipper Jones have done a great job communicating and scheduling off-days for the veteran third baseman. There is no denying Chipper's impact on the lineup is huge whenever he starts, but his 40-year-old legs simply cannot withstand the strain of a 162-game season.
Jones missed last Friday night's game due to back spasms, so it's been a while since he's been out of the batting order. He will be out on Wednesday night, according to the lineups released by the Braves.
Juan Francisco has been a pleasant surprise for Atlanta in recent months, doing a very nice job in backup duties while Jones rests. Francisco will bat sixth and start at third.
