Mark Richt Not Impressed With Quarterback Play In Second Scrimmage

Nearly everyone was primed and ready when the Georgia Bulldogs held their second scrimmage of the fall on Wednesday -- even those who were reportedly dinged up with various injuries. Cornerbacks Malcolm Mitchell and Branden Smith (shoulder issues), defensive back Damian Swann (sprained neck) and defensive end Ray Drew (concussion) were suited up and ready to go.

While getting players on the field is important, the play during the scrimmage is what really matters, and head coach Mark Richt was not impressed with his quarterback play on Wednesday:

"I saw some good things. There were some good things about it. But I saw a lot of bad things. I saw three picks, just bad interceptions, bad throws. One where Corey [Moore] made a great play. I'll give him that. Every time the quarterback got touched, they fumbled the ball. They're not supposed to get tackled, but sometimes they'll get touched. Every time they got hit a little bit or touched a little bit, they fumbled the ball. I wasn't too happy about that."

Here are the quarterback stats from Wednesday's scrimmage: Starter Aaron Murray went 8-of-14 for 158 yards with a touchdown and an interception; Hutson Mason was 8-of-18 for 67 yards, a touchdown and an interception; and Christian Lemay was 2-for-5 for 35 yards with a pick.

The running back situation is also important for a Georgia team without last year's leading rusher, dismissed tailback Isaiah Crowell. Freshman Todd Gurley had a good day on the ground, carrying seven times for 87 yards and scoring two touchdowns.
