Georgia Tech Football Fall Camp: Unproven WR's Hope For Best

Georgia Tech is returning four WR's -- Jeremy Moore, Jeff Greene, Chris Jackson and Darren Waller -- without a single career catch.

For most programs, such a lack of experience would be disaster, but for the Yellow Jackets, it's nothing that unusual. That's what happens when you run a triple option offense that rarely passes the ball, and when it does, usually looks for one or two main targets.

And with Stephen Hill and Tyler Melton gone, coach Paul Johnson will have to depend on his four unproven WR's to give his offense a deep threat to stretch the field. The coaching staff, however, is optimistic, as WR coach Buzz Preston indicated in a conversation with reporters on Wednesday:

"This group will develop at its time," Preston said. "I can't tell you when that's going to be, but I'm seeing things start to come [together]."

They certainly have experience developing WR's quickly. Hill had only 15 career catches before his breakout 2011 season, which ended with him being drafted in the second round by the New York Jets.
