Auburn has suspended senior wide receiver DeAngelo Benton indefinitely for an undisclosed violation of team rules.

The Auburn Tigers have indefinitely suspended senior wide receiver DeAngelo Benton for an undisclosed violation of team rules, according to AL.com. Head coach Gene Chizik offered little explanation in a statement:

"We have standards and expectations that our football team is expected to uphold and when they do not abide by those, there are consequences."

Benton has been involved in several other recent incidents, including one in which his name was mentioned in a hearing of an alleged shooting at an on-campus apartment back in June that left three people dead. However, witnesses later said that Benton was not involved in a fight that led to that shooting.

Benton is a senior with only 14 career receptions, with half of those coming in his 2011 junior campaign, and he was expected to be a backup receiver heading into the 2012 season.
