Georgia Bulldogs running backs coach Bryan McClendon told the Athens Banner-Herald there isn't much separation for the starting fullback spot between walk-on Merritt Hall and senior Richard Samuel.

Hall is the planned starter for the Sept. 1 opener against Buffalo, but he and Samuel are splitting time in practice while Samuel is also seeing time at tailback, where Ken Malcome is the planned starter. On Samuel, McClendon said:

"We’re going to try and keep him at both for as long as we possibly can before we have to have him at one spot or another. The thing that he does so well, he allows you to sort of be in a couple different personnel (groupings) at the same time as far as him being that versatile player."

Malcome got the vote of confidence from coach Mark Richt at tailback, but the team is also looking at Todd Gurley, Keith Marshall and Samuel to get some time at the position. McClendon said that Gurley in particular has had "a very strong camp."
