Stay connected for news and updates

The Falcons have cut their roster down to 77 after releasing eight players and reaching agreements with three others on Saturday. The team still has to cut two more players before Monday's 4 p.m. deadline.

Atlanta waived tight end Chase Coffman, linebacker Max Gruder, kicker Erik Folk, running back Richard Medlin, fullback Lee Meisner, defensive end Louis Nzegwu, wide receiver Kenny Stafford and tight end Aron White.

The league requires teams to trim down to 75 players by Monday and 53 players by Friday. Eight players can be added to the practice squad on Saturday.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported Will Svitek was placed on injured reserve and the team reached injury settlements with defensive tackle Elisha Joseph and cornerback Darrin Walls.
