UGA Football Preseason: Jarvis Jones Happy For Opportunity To Continue Career

Stay connected for news and updates

For a brief period it looked like Jarvis Jones' football career was over. As a freshman at USC Jones was injured when he tried to make a tackle against Oregon in 2009. He was later diagnosed by USC with spinal stenosis and would not be cleared again for contact.

Jones asked and received his release and after a battery of tests landed with the Bulldogs. In this case USC's loss was most definitely Georgia's gain.

"Sometimes things have to happen to turn other situations to great situations," Jones said. "I wouldn't take anything back. I'm glad I'm here. I'm happy I'm here. I love being here. I love the people here. It's just been a blessing and a great opportunity for me."

Jones is the biggest name on what should be a very good defense in 2012. He led the SEC in sacks during his first season with the Bulldogs and projects as a high draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.
