Olympics Medal Count: United States Leads China With 54 Medals, 26 Gold

The United States took back the overal medal lead against China and now have a slim one medal lead 54-53. The gold medal race is also just as close with 26 for the United States and 25 for the Chinese. After China it is the host country United Kingdom who is at 29 total medals and then in fourth place is Korea.

In the swimming pool on Saturday saw the United States won a pair of gold medals as they won the 4x100 medley relay. The women's gold medal victory set a new world record, and featured Georgia Bulldog Allison Schmitt as the freestyle leg.

Over at track and field Team USA won a silver medal in the women's 100m and Galen Rupp and one in the men's 10,000m. The third medal came in the long jump as Will Claye won bronze.
