Broncos Vs. Falcons: With Brent Grimes Out, Focus On Secondary

Stay connected for news and updates

Losing a cornerback for the season in your first game is never a good start. It gets only worse when your next game is against Peyton Manning.

That's the situation the Atlanta Falcons are in after Brent Grimes suffered an Achilles tendon injury in Week 1. Not having Grimes on the field will be a strange feeling, according to AtlantaFalcons.com.

"It’s hard. He’s one of my closest friends on the team. We spend a lot of time together," safety Thomas DeCoud said of Grimes on Tuesday. "It’s just one of those things where I have to fight through it, as well. I’m missing one of my closest guys back there, so I’ve got to stay focused and make sure I keep myself in the game."

There is extra pressure on Christopher Owens and Dominique Franks, who will be shifting up in the depth chart. Dunta Robinson will take Grimes' starting spot opposite Asante Samuel.
