Asante Samuel will start at cornerback in the Atlanta Falcons' Week 2 game against the Denver Broncos, the Falcons' official website reports. That's good news for Falcons fans, as Samuel has 11 pass breakups and three interceptions against Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning.
Samuel faced Manning 11 times during his years with the New England Patriots and Philadelphia Eagles while the quarterback was with the Indianapolis Colts. His experience includes the 2006 AFC championship game, in which he intercepted a Manning pass and returned it 39 yards for a score (though Manning's Colts beat Samuel's Pats, 38-34) and a 2010 Eagles victory in which Samuel picked off Manning twice and was a key contributor to Philly's 26-24 victory.
The Falcons will need everything they can get from Samuel, as Manning looked sharp in his Week 1 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, going 19-for-26 for 253 yards and two touchdowns without an interception.
