Vanderbilt Vs. Georgia: Austyn Carta-Samuels Listed As Commodores' Top QB

Vanderbilt coach James Franklin listed redshirt junior Austyn Carta-Samuels as his No. 1 quarterback Monday, but said the depth chart could change before Saturday's contest at fifth-ranked Georgia, according to the Associated Press.

Depending on how Carta-Samuels and Jordan Rodgers perform in practice this week, Franklin said he will choose his starter by Thursday.

Carta-Samuels started the Commodores' 58-0 rout of Presbyterian Saturday and finished 13-of-20 for 195 yards, though Vanderbilt rushed for 410 yards. Rodgers started the first two games of Vanderbilt's season, losses to South Carolina and Northwestern, before losing his starting spot.

In two seasons at Wyoming, Carta-Samuels passed for 3,850 yards and 20 touchdowns (six interceptions), but transferred to the Nashville school upon Franklin's arrival.

If Carta-Samuels does indeed keep his starting role, Saturday's 7:45 p.m. ET contest in 92,746-seat Sanford Stadium will be his first SEC start.
