The seventh largest crowd in Turner Field history was witness to a 3-1 Braves loss as Atlanta Braves went down to the New York Mets. Chipper Jones, starting his final home series and honored in a pre-game ceremony, went 0-for-4 on the night on four groundouts.

Tim Hudson went seven innings for Atlanta, striking out four and issuing one walk. He allowed five hits, including a three run home run to Lucas Duda that would be New York's only mark on the board. The entire Braves offense struggled, getting only four hits off Mets starting pitcher Jonathan Niese and none from New York's bullpen. They had a runner in scoring position only once, an opportunity lost on a Hudson groundout. Freddie Freeman provided the Braves' only offense with a solo home run in the fourth.

The Braves have already clinched a playoff spot and, with five games remaining, are still in the hunt for the NL East title. Game 2 of the series is Saturday at 7:10 p.m. ET.
