Round-of-16 action at the U.S. Open has seen few surprises on the court. American Serena Williams dominated her opponent Andrea Hlavackova in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0. The only other women's match completed so far on Monday was also won in straight sets by Ana Ivanovic over Tsvetana Pironkova, 6-0, 6-4.

No. 6 Angelique Kerber leads No. 10 Sara Errani 5-4 in the first set of their match. No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska will face No. 20 Roberta Vinci later on Monday.

On the men's side, No. 6 Tomas Berdych won his match against No. 11 Nicolas Almagro, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, 6-1. Berdych will advance to play Roger Federer in the quarterfinals after American Mardy Fish withdrew from their match, citing health reasons.
