2012 U.S. Open Tennis Results: Serena Williams Dominates; Roger Federer Advances

After Monday's action came to a close at the 2012 U.S. Open in Flushing, NY, the usual suspects have moved onto the quarterfinals.

Roger Federer was able to advance without even playing. His opponent, No. 24 American Mardy Fish was forced to retire due to health issues.

The Swiss product will certainly benefit from some added rest before having a match on Wednesday against sixth-ranked Tomas Berdych. Berdych was overwhelming in the fourth round, beating Nicolas Almagro 7-6 (7-4), 6-4, 6-1.

Englishman Andy Murray showed up in top form, dispatching No. 15 Milos Raonic in straight sets. Murray was in control from the start, taking the match 6-4, 6-4, 6-2.

On the women's side of the draw, Serena Williams continued to show why many believe her to be virtually unbeatable. In a pounding of epic measure, Williams throttled Andrea Hlavackova 6-0, 6-0 to advance towards her fourth U.S. Open title.

In the biggest upset of the round, Roberta Vinci toppled No. 2 Agnieszka Radwanska in remarkable easy fashion, 6-1, 6-4. She'll now oppose fellow Italian Sara Errani in the quarters.
