Mets Vs. Braves: Michael Bourn late addition to Atlanta lineups

Howard Smith-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

Michael Bourn is a late addition to the Braves lineup after missing the last few games with a sore thumb.

Michael Bourn has replaced Jose Constanza in the Braves starting lineup and will bat in his customary leadoff spot and be in centerfield for Atlanta. Bourn has missed the last several games with a sore thumb although an MRI revealed no structural damage. Bourn injured the thumb earlier this month against Philadelphia.

The Braves didn't take batting practice on the field but reportedly showed Fredi Gonzalez enough in the indoor cages to prompt the switch. Jose Constanza started yesterday's game in centerfield and Reed Johnson has also seen some time there in Bourn's absence.

Bourn will be a free agent at the end of the season. He played 53 games with the club last season after being acquired in a trade with the Astros. Bourn has played in 151 games this season and is hitting .274 with nine homers and 59 RBIs. Bourn leads the team with 93 runs scored this season.
